Wakefield Council is set to invest an additional £2.5 million in highways maintenance and improvements for the 2026/27 financial year, as part of a wider five-year strategy to upgrade roads and footpaths throughout Wakefield and the Five Towns.

The investment will be funded through the West Yorkshire Combined Authority from the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement uplift. This investment in the local area aims to improve transport links, and improve the safety of roads.
